Hi friends,
If you don’t know me yet – my name is Carlee, and I just took the first big step on a journey that will shape the next nine months of my life. This past week, I said goodbye to my home (Idaho), my family, my comfort zone, and stepped into something completely new: a 9-month missions trip that will take me to different places, cultures, and communities, all with one purpose – to know God more deeply and to make His love known.
Right now, I’m at our training camp in Georgia, where we’re spending time learning, camping, and preparing – mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally – for what’s ahead. So far God has taught me that in order to reach people we can’t provide them with facts but instead must lead others to an encounter with Him. Through one of our teachings I learned that in order to really KNOW Him I need to have real connection for myself and to not put Him in this box of expectations. Our God is so much bigger than that and there’s so much truth to who He is than what we can find from the Bible and others faith.
While this all might sound like a time for physical prep (and yes, there were plenty of squad-building activities and morning movements), it was much more than that. This was a time to step away from distractions, dive deep into God’s Word, and begin preparing our hearts for the mission ahead. I have found a family out of strangers this last week and it’s all stretching me in the best ways, and I can’t wait to share more about what God is doing.
